Dear Dunya,

You have got us chained, chained in your ropes
chained to attention, chained to desires, chained to money
chained to clothes, chained to cars, chained to friends
You, such a lowly state, you-an illusion
make us think that this is it
That you are it. Your glitter and your zeena (beauty)
is why thousands of people are “living it up”,
“living their life to the fullest”.
You have given us the illusion that this is it.
You are the reason that there are people who all they do
is sleep, eat, work a little bit, then drink and party the rest.
You give an illusion, you are a deception that there will be no account
But the wise amongst us, the intelligent of mankind is the one
that realizes your true natures and continues to fight against you,
the temporary, and fights for Jannah, the eternal.
What you have to offer is like dust that will scatter…

“And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability.” [18:45]

And in the end, to our Rab we have to answer.
Ya Allah, Ya Rahman, Ya Aziz,
Disattach our heart from the dunya, and make us amongst those that
live for the akhirah, that live and prepare to meet with you.
